“Friends Reunion” has long been anticipated by fans. In fact, it has been years since they started calling for the cast to reunite and do the show again.
Thus, it was really good news to everyone when it was announced earlier this month that all the original cast members that include Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer have agreed to do the “Friends Reunion” special. But then again, while the show is being prepared it was said that it hit a roadblock as the cast are allegedly fighting.
Why the reunion special is at risk
As per the Woman’s Day magazine, while it was already confirmed that all the original cast have signed up for the “Friends Reunion” that will be released via HBO Max, big issues started to emerge as they are putting together ideas for the much-awaited show. There are inside feuds as the cast can’t agree on some terms and there is also an issue with cast members’ part in the special.
The magazine cited Schwimmer’s case as an example. It was claimed that a source told the magazine that the actor believed that he will be directing “Friends Reunion” so he was supposedly really upset when he learned that this is not the case. The insider alleged that the actor stormed out of the meeting after finding out that it will be directed by someone else.
It was added that issues piled up and escalated when Matthew Perry also started demanding for the script to be rewritten because he finds the story “tacky.” It was suggested that he seemed to be worried about the outcome so he wants to be involved in the scriptwriting process.
“In the old days Matthew loved to sit in on the writing sessions and was an integral part of the script-editing process,” the insider reportedly told WD. “But this time around he feels as if the show’s lost its sparkle and he fears it will destroy the magic of Friends and leave a bitter taste in fans’ mouths.”
The truth
The story went on to state that even Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox have issues so the “Friends Reunion” could be falling apart at this point. But then Gossip Cop contacted Aniston’s rep to confirm if this rumor is true and the publication received a negative reply which means it is false. The cast is not fighting over pay, script and anything else and in fact, the production is going smoothly.
