Sir Patrick Stewart is iconic for his movie portrayal of the older Professor X, a powerful mutant with exceptionally powerful telepathic powers. But when he recently appeared as his character in his more degenerative, sickly state in “Logan,” it was Stewart’s form of saying goodbye to the much-beloved X-Men character.
However, a recent appearance at the “The Late Late Show with James Corden” along with “Legion” series star Dan Stevens got some fans clamoring for him to reprise one of his famous roles on the small screen, Digital Spy reported.
Stevens, who play the titular character, gave a strong reason for Stewart to at least make a cameo in the series. He said, "Technically Sir Patrick plays my father – Professor X is David Haller's father in the Marvel Universe. So essentially I've got a job offer."
Although everyone was having a bit of a laugh at the exchange, Stewart responded that he was "absolutely, one hundred percent" with the idea, Den of Geek said.
Stevens and “Legion” boss Noah Hawley has previously acknowledged that Legion’s parentage will be addressed at some point in the series, AV Club reported.
Hawley said, “[The series is] true to the origins of this character and just leave it at that… I don’t think you can really tell the story without that element to it. And so I would say you probably will.”
“...You’ve got to earn the right to be a part of that universe, and my hope is to create something that is so strong that people at the movie studio follow up and go, ‘We’d be foolish not to connect these two things,’” relating to this directorial style in his other FX series, “Fargo.”
