Lee Min Ho finally returns after more than two years of absence in the entertainment scene. He really chose the right drama for his much-awaited comeback and fans are just going crazy not just for his kingly visuals but for his great acting skills as well.
The 32-year-old was discharged from the army in April 2019 and while it was immediately announced that he would star in this drama, it took another year for him to return since pre-production works and filming take a lot of time. With the time gap before the shoot begins, Min Ho was active in promotional activities and he went on vacation to rest too.
On why he chose “The King: The Eternal Monarch” for his comeback
Lee Min Ho previously said that it is a project written by Kim Eun Sook, a well-known and multi-awarded writer so he felt honored to be in her drama. He also said that they already worked together in “The Heirs” which was one of his blockbuster dramas so he did not hesitate to reunite with her again and do another great project.
Moreover, in an interview through a video call with members of the media from Singapore and the Philippines, he further explained why he picked “The King: The Eternal Monarch.” He admitted to going over many scripts but he ultimately decided to be a “king.”
"I looked at a lot of scripts and the first thing that attracted me to this role is that he is an emperor,” Strait Times quoted him as saying. “I don't think I'll get a chance to play this role again.”
What the fans are saying
As mentioned earlier, Lee Min Ho's comeback drama made a lot of noise as fans can’t contain themselves after seeing him on screen again, looking so majestic. Many are saying that although they have only seen two episodes so far, they are hooked to “The King: Eternal Monarch” and especially love the scene where the actor was riding a white horse.
"I was absolutely FLOORED by the pilot episode. The King has all the elements I love in dramas—royals (specifically modern royals), political intrigue, and fantasy!” Cosmopolitan quoted one fan as saying. “As the scenes were unfolding, I was literally sitting at the edge of my seat because I was so beyond amazed by the world-building and production value—and Lee Min Ho hadn't even appeared on screen at this point yet!”
Lee Min Ho’s “The King: Eternal Monarch” airs every Friday and Saturday on Netflix at 10:30 p.m. It can also be viewed on SBS channel.
