Fans missed Lee Min Ho a lot, and they have waited for almost two years for his comeback. The actor left show business to fulfill his mandatory military duty and served as a social service worker at the Suseo Social Welfare Center.
When he was discharged in April, his followers can’t wait for an announcement as to what project he will do first. And as they want to see him back on TV, Min Ho later revealed that he just signed up for a role in writer Kim Eun Sook’s new drama project called “The King: The Eternal Monarch.”
The synopsis of the upcoming drama
As posted on My Drama List, Lee Min Ho’s “The King: The Eternal Monarch” is a romantic fantasy drama that will feature the popular theme of two parallel universes. One of these worlds refers to modern-day South Korea, while the other one is a world existing at the time when a monarch heads the Korean empire.
The king in the ancient universe discovered a passage leading to another world, which is the present day. Realizing that this could create chaos when discovered by bad people in their time, he sought the help of a detective in the modern world so they can team up and sealed the door.
Cast and main production staff
As everyone already knows, Lee Min Ho is the lead actor in the drama, and it was later confirmed that “Goblin” star Kim Go Eun has been signed to be his leading lady. As the casting continues, it was announced that Woo Do Hwan, Kim Kyung Nam, Lee Jung Jin, and Jung Eun Chae are also joining the lineup of the drama’s official cast members. As mentioned, Kim Eun Sook serves as the writer for this drama, while Baek Sang Hoon of “The Descendants of the Sun” will direct.
Filming and script reading
Min Ho and the rest of the cast and crew have recently gathered together for their first scripting reading. This was held a few weeks ago, and this means that they will be filming soon if they have not started yet at this time.
The script is complete, so the camera will surely begin rolling any time now. Finally, Lee Min Ho’s comeback drama has no exact release date yet; however, it is sure to arrive sometime in the first half of 2020.
