As fans of the show might already know, “Last Man Standing” Season 7 was rescued by Fox and is now set to premiere in short order. However, there are going to be some changes, especially with regards to some characters. In the case of Kaitlyn Dever, for example, the actress will be playing Eve Baxter for only two episodes since she now has other projects.
When ABC canceled the hit show, rumors started swirling that the political views of the lead Tim Allen (Mike Baxter) might have been the reason, Otaku Art reports. The network denied this and, fortunately, the show was saved following a year of being off the air. The delay and uncertainty of the show’s future meant that the actors had to find other projects. This explains Kaitlyn Dever’s reduced role in “Last Man Standing” Season 7.
Speaking to TVLine recently, executive producer Kevin Abbott said that the attachment of the actress to the Netflix program “Unbelievable” meant that Kaitlyn Dever could commit fully to their show. This has resulted in her appearing only twice in “Last Man Standing” Season 7, which is better than nothing.
“She’s in the first episode, [and] she will be in the third episode,” Abbott told the publication. “Kaitlyn Dever’s marvelous and of course she took other work while we were off… She’s currently doing a Netflix show, but they’re being really, really accommodating.”
This is good because replacing all of the Baxter daughters would have been quite the messy affair. For “Last Man Standing” Season 7, Eve’s two sisters were already recast. The most recent one saw Molly McCook being brought to the show to play Mandy.
“Last Man Standing” Season 7 will premiere on Sept. 28 on FOX, so fans might want to keep that date in mind. They may also want to watch this promo clip, where Tim Allen took shots at ABC.
