Mike (Tim Allen) will be caught in an awkward situation once a visitor starts asking about the “[United States] President’s trade war” in “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 5. Meanwhile, Vanessa (Nancy Travis) and Boyd (Jet Jurgensmeyer) will have their own matters to tackle in the upcoming episode.
The preview and synopsis for “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 5 tell fans different stories. Mike gets a visit from a guest character named Henry (Francois Chau). Their supposedly friendly conversation turns out to be a tricky one as soon as Henry asks about President Donald Trump's trade policies.
Like Mike, Henry looks like a businessman, who then asks, “Has your president’s trade war affected your business?” The main protagonist starts looking very uncomfortable in this scene of “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 5 and says Henry’s question makes him literally bite his tongue.
Earlier this year, showrunner Kevin Abbott and Tim Allen both confirmed (via Fox News) that Mike “is a conservative Republican.” But they also said there will not be any direct references to Trump in the entire season, which explains why Mike refuses to make a comment on Henry’s question in the “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 5.
Meanwhile, the “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 5 synopsis also reveals that Vanessa would like to welcome a foreign exchange student into their home. The synopsis reads, “Mike must work overtime to impress her father.” So Chau’s role is possibly the student’s father, which can be another explanation of why Mike tries so hard not to comment on Trump’s “trade war” with China.
On the other hand, Kristin (Amanda Fuller) and Ryan (Jordan Masterson) will be caught in a very interesting milestone as Boyd’s parents. Mike’s grandson will be having a girl visitor in “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 5, which could make Kristin and Ryan lose their cool.
There was a short break before “Last Man Standing” season 7 episode 5 can due to the coverage of the World Series. But the upcoming episode will air in its original schedule on Friday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
