Kraft Heinz announces a recall for its Capri Sun flavored juice drink due to possible cleaning solution contamination. The company said it is calling back 5,760 box cases of the said drink.
As per KTLA 5 News, since Capri Sun has many flavors, Kraft Heinz said that only its Capri Sun Wild Cherry flavored juice is affected by the recall. Based on the report, the contamination may have happened after a diluted cleaning solution was accidentally brought up into a production line at one of the production plants and got mixed with the product.
The company explained that the solution is typically used on its food processing equipment, and apparently for cleaning them. It was added that Kraft Heinz only learned about the issue when some people complained the juice tastes different.
The multinational food company headquartered in Illinois assured customers that it is already coordinating with its distributors and retail partners so that all potentially impacted Capri Sun Wild Cherry flavored juice could be immediately removed from the store shelves and stop their circulation as well.
The consumers must note that the recalled juice product has a “Best When Used By” date of June 25, 2023. People can check this information on the packages.
People are advised to dispose of the juice at once and never consume them. Customers can return the recalled items to the stores where they were purchased for a refund.
“Kraft Heinz is announcing a voluntary recall of approximately 5,760 cases of Capri Sun Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend beverages,” the food manufacturing giant said in a statement. “The voluntary recall comes after diluted cleaning solution, which is used on food processing equipment, was inadvertently introduced into a production line at one of our factories.”
The Capri Sun drink pouches are one of the most popular beverages for kids. The New York Post reported that cases of the drink were shipped to retailers in four cartons, and each one usually have 10 individual pouches.
Meanwhile, Kraft Heinz said that people could contact them from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday to Friday at 1-800-280-8252. By calling, people can check if their purchases are part of the recall.
