Jungkook is the youngest member of BTS, the Korean boy band that continues to make a name worldwide. But aside from the basic facts about the “golden maknae” of the group, not many fans know a lot of things about him, so below is a list of interesting things to take note of.
The idol singer’s background
Jungkook was born in Busan on Sept. 1, 1997, and he has an older brother. He wanted to debut as a singer, so he auditioned in the third season of Mnet’s “Super Star K” in 2011. However, he was eliminated and didn’t reach the final stage. Despite this, seven agencies tried to recruit him as a trainee, and he chose to be with Big Hit Entertainment, and he was just 15 at that time.
“In 7th grade, I had dreams of becoming a singer after listening to G-Dragon sunbaenim’s songs,” Bora Kim quoted Jungkook as saying via Quora. “Then, in 8th grade, I got cast by Big Hit after leaving the Superstar K3 auditions and became a part of Bangtan.”
The singer eventually moved to Seoul and enrolled at the School of Performing Arts. Since he became a trainee at an early age, he entered high school later than his batch mates, so he only graduated in 2017 when he was already 21 years old. When Jungkook graduated, he is already quite well-known and earning his money; thus, he treated his bandmates to dinner, where he was said to have spent around $820.
Joining the BTS group
While training, Big Hit already included him in the boy group that it intends to debut. He became the main vocalist, lead dancer, and sub-rapper. For his stage name, he considered being called Ean, Tattoo, and Seagull, and apparently, he just decided to stick to his real name. Prior to debut, Jungkook was sent to the US for dance training, and he was convinced by Jimin to return to the team rather than pursuing a career to be a professional dancer.
Other interesting facts
Jungkook’s blood type is A, and he does not have a particular religion. He likes cheese and apple mango. For his hobbies, he loves playing the guitar, drawing. Photography and watching movies and anime. He also loves video games, and he’s a black-belter Taekwondo player too.
Awards and achievements
The 22-year-old already achieved so much with his great talents. Aside from awards he received as a member of BTS, he was also recognized worldwide, and in fact, the Korean Culture Ministry in Vietnam made him as the first-ever idol to have his solo booth at the exhibition to celebrate diplomatic relations with other countries, and calling him as the “national pride.”
