Jungkook has a legal case that has been forwarded to the prosecution this week, and it is about his recent car accident in Seoul. In November, he was questioned and booked at the precinct for his traffic violation, and the investigation continues up to that point.
Now, SBS News reported that on Dec. 10, the Seoul Yongsan Police disclosed that they had brought Jungkook’s case to the prosecutor’s office. The authorities revealed that they recommended an indictment for the idol singer’s violation of the Road Traffic Act and violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents.
Why did the investigation proceed despite a settlement with the victim
The incident was not really serious as both the taxi driver and the BTS member were not harmed. The other party was reported to have slight bruising, and that was all the injury that he sustained from the mishap.
It was also clarified that the 22-year-old celebrity was not drunk or under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened. But regardless, an investigation was carried out.
“We summoned Jungkook for questioning on Nov. 28 and wrapped up our investigation,” Yonhap News Agency quoted the police spokesperson as saying in a statement. “He and the victim made an amicable settlement, but because his negligence was a major part of the accident, we forwarded him to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.”
What is Jungkook being charged for?
It was stated that the Seoul police want to slap charges against BTS Jungkook. They insist that the idol is liable for serious negligence even if he already settled with the taxi driver on the same day of the accident in October.
They have laid out the formal charges for a traffic violation and other laws that he may have disregarded on that day. But while the police recommended pressing charges against Jungkook, it still depends on the prosecutor if he will formally indict the BTS member.
Meanwhile, setting aside this unfortunate incident, Jungkook and the rest of the BTS recently made a clean sweep when they won all the major awards at the recent Mnet Asian Music Awards that was held in Japan. They also won the top prizes that include the Artist of the Year and Song of the Year awards.
