Now that Jimmy Butler has been traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Minnesota Timberwolves seemed to have shrugged off a huge chip on their shoulders. After the 29-year-old forward left, the Timberwolves has now won two for two with the latest being a close match between the New Orleans Pelicans.
Jimmy Butler has been accused of causing a lot of negative atmosphere in the locker room of the Timberwolves, as well as disrupting the chemistry of the roster on the court. But with Butler now gone, Kart-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins, and the rest of the squad are playing with renewed vigor, The Ringer reported.
However, the team still needs to work out a lot of kinks if they want to be a contender for the Playoffs. Although their win against the Pelicans is well-deserved, they could’ve easily blown out Anthony Davis and his crew since they were quite ahead during the 3rd quarter. But a win is still a win and with Jimmy Butler now playing for the 76ers, Towns and Wiggins now has more opportunity to score the basket.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler’s debut game with the 76ers was foiled by the Orlando Magic as they lost that match with a score of 106-111. It was a shame, too, given that the 76ers were ahead by a dozen points 9 minutes into the fourth quarter.
Of course, people shouldn’t judge Jimmy Butler since this is just his first game. Everyone knows that it’s difficult to integrate a new player into the playstyle of a team and it will take several more games for someone to acclimate into a roster.
Hopefully, Jimmy Butler wouldn’t show the same level of disrespect to the 76ers’ organization similar to what he portrayed during his stint with the Timberwolves. So far, news about the 29-year-old’s attitude with his new team has yet to surface. As for the 76ers fans, they are still on the fence whether Butler’s addition to the roster will have a significant impact on the team’s chance of winning the Eastern Conference Finals.
