Jimmy Butler recently got a scalding statement from NBA pundit Leigh Ellis. According to the expert, Butler’s attitude towards the whole organization of the Minnesota Timberwolves is “humiliating" the franchise, The Daily Express reported.
Reports have been coming in that the talented forward has been causing a lot of toxicity for the team, both in the locker room and on the court with the latter being the most prominent. Indeed, Karl-Anthony Towns appears to be more efficient and productive when he isn’t playing with Butler as pointed out by Jalen Rose.
Rose said that Towns effectiveness is being reduced by half when forced to play with the ex-Bulls forward. The sports analyst suggest that Jimmy Butler should just come off the bench since his presence is disrupting the chemistry of the Timberwolves’ starters.
While the team’s recent loss against the Los Angeles Lakers hasn’t heavily highlighted this fact, the awkward atmosphere is still supposedly there. However, Jimmy Butler did put up efficient numbers after the match as he had 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Meanwhile, Towns only had 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 blocks, slightly solidifying Rose’s statements.
It’s still unclear why the Timberwolves hasn’t traded Jimmy Butler yet since Butler himself has been quite vocal of wanting to leave the franchise. What’s more, Butler has also said that he will decide when he’s going to play and when he’s going to sit out a game. This is clearly detrimental for the overall record of the team and should be addressed posthaste if the organization wants to qualify for the playoffs.
Ellis said that the Timberwolves should just put their foot down and stop the bleeding. “I think if you're in the front office at the Timberwolves you need to sit down and say: ‘This has to end, he's not playing anymore’,” Ellis added. "He's not going to be a part of this franchise anymore, he's going to be sat down until [Jimmy Butler’s] traded. Hopefully, this issue gets resolve as Jalen Rose said that the situation is not only hurting the Timberwolves but the entire league as a whole."
