President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are reportedly settling scores during their final weeks in the White House, with prominent Democratic figures allegedly in their crosshairs. This includes a rift with Vice President Kamala Harris, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and even Barack Obama, according to sources close to the administration.
Tensions Erupt Over Hunter Biden Pardon
The fallout began with President Biden’s controversial decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden, a move that shocked Democratic Party members. Coupled with commutations for over 1,500 prisoners, the pardons have fueled criticism and intensified existing divides within the party.
According to insiders, Jill Biden has encouraged the president to take a harder stance against figures they perceive as betraying them. “Jill views Democrats on Capitol Hill and in the broader party with such resentment that she’s egging Joe to burn bridges,” said a source familiar with White House dynamics.
Pelosi is among those reportedly in Jill Biden’s sights. The former House speaker played a significant role in pushing Biden to step aside during the 2024 election cycle. Once close allies, the Bidens and Pelosis are now distant, with little hope of reconciliation. At this month’s Kennedy Center Honors, Pelosi was notably seated far from the Bidens—a stark departure from her previous status as a guest of honor in the presidential box.
Frosty Relations with Harris and Obama
The chill extends to Vice President Harris, whose campaign loss to Donald Trump in the 2024 election has deepened tensions. During public appearances, the Bidens have been noticeably distant from Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff. Reports suggest Biden endorsed Harris as the 2024 nominee partly to spite Pelosi and Obama, both of whom expressed doubts about her candidacy.
John Morgan, a prominent Democratic donor, speculated that Biden’s endorsement of Harris was an act of defiance. “Biden felt pressured from all sides and responded by putting Harris forward. Now, he’s struggling to understand how she failed so badly,” Morgan told reporters.
Democratic insiders are divided over who deserves blame for the party’s defeat. While some fault Harris’s campaign, others argue that Biden’s delayed withdrawal from the race undermined her chances.
Social Media Reacts to White House Turmoil
The Bidens’ alleged vendettas have sparked intense debate online. Twitter user @LiberalWatchdog commented, “If true, Jill Biden’s actions are a betrayal of party unity. This hurts Democrats more than helps.” Meanwhile, @KamalaSupporter tweeted, “Harris deserved better support. Biden’s late exit sabotaged her campaign.”
Others defended the First Couple. @DemocraticValues wrote, “Pelosi and Obama undermined Biden first. The Bidens have every right to push back.” Conversely, @UnityNow urged caution, stating, “Infighting like this will weaken the party heading into 2028.”
@PartyFaithful added, “Democrats must focus on rebuilding trust, not settling scores.” Finally, @PoliticalAnalyst observed, “This drama distracts from the real challenges Democrats face in a post-Biden, post-Harris era.”
Biden Prepares for Life After Office
As Biden prepares to step down, his post-presidential plans remain uncertain. Rumors suggest his presidential library will be in Delaware, while Jill Biden has announced her retirement from teaching.
Despite public assurances of continued service, strained relationships within the Democratic Party may hinder their future influence. With Trump’s second term looming, the Bidens’ next chapter promises to be as controversial as their farewell.
