“Jane The Virgin” Season 5 will air on the spring of 2019 and fans are still speculating how is it that Michael (Brett Dier) survived his death. Audiences are also wondering how and why he kept it from Jane (Gina Rodriguez) all these years.
One possible explanation for this is Michael’s profession. The series has well-established the fact that Michael is quite dedicated to his work to a point that it becomes an obsession. Indeed, his hunt for the elusive Sin Rostro has time and again jeopardize his relationship with Jane and even cost him his partner’s life. This obsession to catch Rose (Bridge Regan) and her associates might be the reason Michael faked his own death. While “Jane The Virgin” Season 5 will undoubtedly provide clues to this, they may already have dropped some hints in the previous installments.
For instance, Michael has been portrayed as a character who will do everything to protect Jane and her family. If Sin Rostro sent a death threat to Michael saying that they would go after those he loves if he doesn’t stop his investigations, then it stands to reason that he may have faked his own death to protect the Villanueva household. He may also have been instructed by his department to remain hidden in order to blindside the criminal organization. Although this is purely speculation at this point, it certainly tracks with the plotlines of “Jane The Virgin” Season 5.
After all, he may be adamant to end the drug syndicate but he’s also shown that he’s willing to leave his profession behind to be with Jane and Mateo (Elias Janssen). But if they were threatened, then he’s more than willing to do whatever it takes to eliminate the criminals. And now that he has returned, it’s possible that he may already have brought down all of Rose’s associates. With the Sin Rostro gone, Michael can now return to the life of Jane. However, Jane has moved from her loss and found comfort in the arms of Rafael (Justin Baldoni). “Jane The Virgin” Season 5 would then focus on this complication while explaining how Michael took care of the drug organization.
