It was an exciting Tuesday for gadget lovers as Microsoft unveiled several new products at its hardware event in New York:
- Microsoft Band 2
- Lumia Smartphones
- Surface Pro 4 tablet
- HoloLens Project X-ray
- Surface Book
The last one in the list, Surface Book, is Microsoft’s first-ever laptop, which it claims to be the “ultimate” laptop. Some key features include:
- 13.5” PixelSense display
- Detachable keyboard
- 128GB/256GB/512GB/1TB storage options
- 6th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor
- 8GB/16GB RAM
- i5: Intel® HD graphics 520, i5/i7: NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Processor
- 5.0MP front-facing camera, 8.0MP rear-facing camera with autofocus, with 1080p HD video recording
Priced at $1499, the laptop comes in an all-magnesium body and is powered by windows 10. As to why this could actually be an “ultimate” laptop, the answer lies in its innovative features.
Firstly, it transforms into three different configurations, adapting to the way a user works – Powerful laptop, Portable clipboard and Creative canvas.
Of course, detachable keyboard is not something new, but Surface Book has Palm Block Technology that allows user to rest their hand on the screen to write effortlessly, just like a pad of paper. Surface Pen combines 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity with low latency for a real pen on paper feeling.
“This innovative and stunningly crafted laptop is a creative powerhouse, designed to adapt to the way you work – with touch, a Pen, or a mouse” - Microsoft
Moreover, by turning the screen around and reattaching it, the Surface Book could be used like a creative canvas. By reconnecting it to the keyboard, its full creative power is unlocked in a pen first mode.
"Ounce for ounce, pound for pound, this is the fastest 13in laptop ever made, on any plant," Microsoft said, as reported by IBTimes UK.
