‘Inhumans’ television series is expected to focus on prominent members of the Inhuman Royal family that includes Black Bolt and Medusa. It will debut its first two episodes in IMAX theaters before moving to its new home in ABC.
According to Digital Spy, the planned ‘Inhumans’ television series will make its way both on the big screen and the small screen. Before the series will be settling into its new home in ABC in the fall of 2017, it will debut its first two episodes in IMAX cinemas across the United States on September 4, 2017. This is also the first time IMAX is helping finance the development of the pilot and series.
It was reported that the first two episodes in the eight-episode run will be shot entirely using IMAX cameras. More scenes from subsequent will also employ the same technology, including sets on the Moon.
Disney-ABC Television Group president Ben Sherwood admitted during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, "We think this is a quadruple win — a win for Imax, a win for Marvel, a win for ABC Studios and a win for ABC to launch a show in an innovative way and get attention."
According to /Film, the upcoming series will not be a spin-off of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ nor will it replace the long-planned film version, which was taken off Disney’s slate for 2019. The science-fiction and superhero adventure was film was originally scheduled for release on November 2, 2018 but was pushed back to July 12, 2019. It was "delayed indefinitely" last in April 2016.
The series is expected to focus on the Inhuman Royal Family, a group that includes characters like Black Bolt, Lockjaw, Medusa, Gorgon, and Karnak. These characters, who have not appeared on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’, are among the most prominent members of the superhero group from the original Marvel comic books.
The Inhumans first appeared in ‘Fantastic Four #45’ released December 1965 although Medusa and Gorgon appeared in later comic books. They were introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in season 2 of Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’
‘Inhumans’ television series is composed of eight episodes, two of which will debut in IMAX theaters on September 2017 before the series moves to ABC.
