While “Horizon Forbidden West” has been positively received by critics and players, the game needs some fine-tuning less than a week since its launch. The first update, patch 1.05, delivers a slate of gameplay fixes and will also address bugs observed in the main and side quests.

The “Horizon Forbidden West” patch 1.05 should address an issue that prevents the auto-save feature from working properly and affects progression during the Reach for the Stars main quest. Players also noticed that Aloy tends to “fall out of the world” during the interlude of The Eye of the Earth main quest when they skip the cinematic. But this should be fixed with this week’s update. Guerilla Games has also addressed an issue that affects some grapple points in The Sea of Sands quest.

Players have also noticed some problems when playing side quests and errands, including instances in the Blood Choke side quest where Atekka would “fall out of the sky.” Another progression problem has been observed when players try to complete the In the Fog quest. There is also an annoying bug that makes pullable boxes get randomly stuck, preventing players from completing the Night of Lights errand quest. Luckily, the developer said all these have been addressed in “Horizon Forbidden West” patch 1.05.

A couple of gameplay fixes were also included in the update. The developer said “Horizon Forbidden West” players should no longer have issues with using the Second Chance skill. Some weapon techniques were also causing problems with the camera angle and position. But these have been fixed in the first patch.

There is a longer list of “general fixes” for “Horizon Forbidden West.” While they do not generally affect gameplay, fixing them should bring a better gaming experience. One of the useful updates is applied to the HDR mode that prevents the game visuals from being oversharpened. “NPCs that seemed to suffer from insomnia and would gather in large groups at night in settlements should act more naturally now,” Guerilla said.

Patch 1.05 also brings crash fixes to “Horizon Forbidden West.” Players can find the full patch notes through the developer’s post on Reddit.
