“Hawaii Five-0” season 9 was greenlit by CBS back in April to the delight of the show’s fans. The next installment is set to keep the story rolling, with familiar faces slated to return, including Alex O’Loughlin.
O’Loughlin said in 2016 that he doesn’t see himself continuing on the show as he wanted to spend more time with his family, especially with his growing kids. However, the actor has changed his tune since then and has mellowed down on this previous sentiment.
“I am still very tired at the end of the season, and after almost 200 episodes of television,” O’Loughlin said. “But I can sort of quietly and sensibly sit back and go, ‘There’s a version where if CBS can make a deal and be reasonable, then I’m prepared to be reasonable, too.'”
And even though O’Loughlin’s contract is about to expire, it’s likely he’s going to be part of “Hawaii Five-0” season 9 as CBS seems confident enough to continue on the storyline of the police procedural series. As of now, no formal announcement has been given by the network on O’Loughlin resigning.
On a different note, Willie Garson strongly suggested that he’s also going to be returning to the show. Garson’s character, Gerard Hirsch, has been one of the most popular characters on the show.
Catermatt reported that the show will likely kick off the season by going big in the first few episodes, bringing in familiar faces to help create more waves for the series. Moreover, it will also develop an instant relinking between fans and the characters they’re rooting for.
Guest stars like Garson usually depend on what the showrunners do on a particular episode. In the past, the series has shown a solid procedural storyline, spy thriller, straight-up action-filled episodes, or character-centered drama.
Whatever genre the show takes on, fans are simply happy that its next installment is but months away. Currently, there’s no official announcement on when the season will premiere. However, judging by tradition, “Hawaii Five-O” season 9 will likely return in late September.
