Developer 343 Industries released the official roadmap of content and updates planned for “Halo Infinite” Season 2, confirming that the season will run for a total of six months. As for the much-awaited campaign co-op, the studio is aiming for it to be released in late August.
The Season 2 roadmap was released in a recent blog post by “Halo Infinite” head of creative Joseph Staten. Content and limited-time events already have specific schedules, while others remain as “targets” and “goals.” One of them is the long-awaited campaign co-op.
Per the latest “Halo Infinite” roadmap, the campaign co-op’s “target” release is sometime in late August. However, its splitscreen feature is not slated to launch until Season 3.
“Halo Infinite” players will have to wait longer for Forge mode. Its open beta is aimed to launch in September, but the roadmap also lists Forge open beta under the updates planned for the game’s third season, which will not start until Nov. 8.
Some fans might find that that latest content roadmap is not as exhaustive as one would expect for a season that runs for six months. But Staten noted, “The roadmap’s timeframe will also expand as we announce longer-term initiatives. In other words, this roadmap is an evolving document, and we’ll let you know when we make changes to it.”
In recent months, one of the issues “Halo Infinite” players have raised is the speed at which new content is delivered by 343 Industries. While Staten did not make any specific promises on this front, he said that the developers are “aggressively looking at ways to accelerate.”
The roadmap reiterates the release of new maps for “Halo Infinite” Season 2, including Catalyst for Arena and Breaker for Big Team Battle. The developer also reiterated the arrival of new game modes King of the Hill, Land Grab, and Last Spartan Standing once the next season begins on May 3. Narrative-driven events scheduled for Season 2 include “Interference” on May 3-16 “Alpha Pack” from July 18 to Aug. 1. The first week of “Fracture: Entrenched” will kick off on May 24.
