While “Halo Infinite” had a big launch late last year, fans have been less forgiving at the rate 343 Industries releases new content for the live service game. But things could be getting better soon after Certain Affinity announced it is joining the “Halo Infinite” development.
Certain Affinity announced its latest project in a brief post on its website. “We’ve been part of the Halo franchise for more than 15 years, and we’re honored to say we are deepening our relationship with 343 and have been entrusted with further evolving Halo Infinite in some new and exciting ways,” the studio said on Tuesday. As part of the announcement, Certain Affinity also noted that it has a long list of job offerings for its Toronto and Austin offices and some positions open for remote work.
The developer did not mention specific details on how it is going to help with the “Halo Infinite” development. But it is worth noting that the announcement happened not long after 343 Industries community director Brian Jarrard recognized the studio’s shortcomings in terms of regular content updates. “We’re certainly not happy to be unable to meet player and community expectations, it’s a difficult situation that’s going to take the team time to work through,” Jarrard told fans on Reddit.
It is unknown if Certain Affinity’s work will be related to future live-service content, but the studio has a long-running experience in co-developing multiplayer titles. The studio has previously worked with 343 Industries for “Halo 4” and “Halo: The Master Chief Collection.” It also co-developed the multiplayer features of “Doom” with id Software, and Activision recruited the studio to work with Raven Software for the 2016 game “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.”
The “Halo Infinite” season 2, titled “Lone Wolves,” is scheduled to go live on May 3 with several additional features, including new maps for Arena and BTB modes and the return of the King of the Hill map. Fans also recently found clues for the imminent launch of the game’s version of battle royale called Last Spartan Standing, which is also expected to arrive with the next season.
