HHS Secretary Alex Azar gets corrected after stating that coronavirus vaccine was ready in 'three days'

In the midst of election frenzy among the leading candidates in the country, lawmakers from both parties are tackling the challenge that is the coronavirus. Health & Human Services Secretary Alex Azar gets corrected right away after his comments on the coronavirus vaccine.

The Trump administration has often been criticized for how they are handling the growing pandemic that is becoming a global emergency. Politicalflare reports that Azar told the press outside the White House that a possible vaccine for the coronavirus was already developed by scientists “within three days.” Azar also told the press that the Food and Drug Administration had already given the go signal to start the first phase of clinical trials of said vaccine.

Shortly after Azar made the comments regarding the supposed vaccine, the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases director Dr. Anthony Fauci corrected the HHS secretary’s remarks. Dr. Fauci clarified to the press what Azar was actually referring to regarding the vaccine. Dr. Fauci stated that the first phase of the development of the vaccine was what Azar had described. He added that the entire process would take much longer, around a year to 18 months long.

Azar is not the only member of the Trump administration who Dr. Fauci had to correct, as President Donald Trump had also been repeatedly corrected and briefed regarding the actual timeframe for the vaccine to be fully developed and ready for health centers to use on infected patients. The administration’s remarks have been differing from the remarks of the experts as of late, perhaps as a way to assure the public regarding the virus. Nevertheless, this ties in with the concerns of the experts that the administration may spread misleading information regarding the virus.

Previously, Trump had accused the Democrats of inciting fear amongst the public about the coronavirus. The Guardian reported that in one of Trump’s Twitter rants, the president accused the Democrats of “fearmongering” and claimed that he saved many. “I was criticized by the Democrats when I closed the country down to China many weeks ahead of what almost everyone recommended...saved many lives. (Democrats) were working the Impeachment Hoax. They didn’t have a clue! Now they are fear-mongering. Be calm & vigilant!” tweeted Trump.
