Ahead of the show’s Season 3 finale, DC Entertainment has posted a new video with interviews from the stars of “Gotham.” In the video, at least one of the cast members hinted that Season 4 will see the coming of Scarecrow.
At the 1: 24 mark in the video, actor Ben McKenzie, who plays Jim Gordon in the series, was asked which villains would he wanted to see in “Gotham” Season 4. He said, “There are some villains that I’m a fan of that are in season four. I’ve always been keen on the Scarecrow. It would be nice if the Scarecrow showed up.”
CBR said that in the comics canon, Scarecrow is the villain alter ego of Jonathan Crane, who previously worked as a psychology professor and used his skills and knowledge of fear toxins to prey on the fears and phobias of others. Cillian Murphy famously played the movie version.
In Season 1 of “Gotham,” fans were introduced to a Dr. Cane, who, Screenrant notes, is the father of Scarecrow. The show also had some obvious nods to the future villain and his greatest weapon, but fans were reportedly not receptive to the idea of a kiddie version of Scarecrow. It would be interesting though on how Season 4 will introduce Scarecrow, but it could be “Gotham”’s youngest reincarnation yet.
The Season 3 finale on FOX will also feature some powerhouse villains which may or may not be responsible for the deadly virus that is sweeping around Gotham. R’as al Ghul, who is training the young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), will be one of the latter’s final push to embrace the Batman superhero alter ego. A version of Joker’s assistant, Harley Quinn, is expected to debut on the Season 3 finale as well.
