‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is set to feature Sansa on a “power trip” as hinted by actress Sophie Turner. Although Turner didn’t expand with more details on the future of her character, she admitted that Sansa will get more insecure as she gets more powerful.
Turner revealed that her character Sansa Stark will rise to power in the incoming season of the highly popular fantasy series adapted from George R. R. Martin’s novels “A Song of Ice and Fire.” Despite the victory in season 6, Turner warned that Sansa will face new challenges as a price of power.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Turner said, “She’s seemingly in control for the first time – and it really suits her… She’s kind of having a bit of a power trip. But she’s also becoming more insecure, because there are threats to the power that she holds.”
In the preceding season, Sansa gained confidence and grew stronger after she defeated her cruel second husband Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) and managed to take back her home Winterfell together with bastard brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington).
Turner also expressed her excitement for season 7 saying, “What overall excites me about this season is that main characters are coming together and it feels like things are ramping up… It’s really exciting and all feels like it’s coming to a big conclusion.”
According to IGN, preview footage for season 7 was aired on HBO only recently and teased a grand reunion between the Stark children, particularly Sansa, Jon Snow, and Arya. One of the most interesting screen shots of the preview featured Arya decked out in Winterfell garb as she rode on horseback. Judging by the thickness of her robes, it is possible that she is riding North instead of pushing South following her return to Westeros.
‘Game of Thrones’ season 7 is scheduled to premiere on HBO in mid-2017, with a total of seven episodes.
