Fortnum & Mason is betting on tourism recovery in Hong Kong by opening a 333 sqft outlet inside Hong Kong International Airport, its first travel retail boutique in Asia.
The store, located in the East Hall luxury zone, would offer a selection of the brand’s signature products, including teas, chocolates, and gift boxes.
The opening was scheduled to capture the increasing shopping demand for the year-end holiday.
The new store is the British luxury lifestyle retailer’s second in Hong Kong.
It debuted in the city three years ago with a 7000 sqft flagship in the K11 Musea in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The opening is a partnership between Fortnum & Mason and Lagardere Travel Retail.
According to Rupert Thomas, Fortnum & Mason chief commercial officer, the opening of their airside airport retail space is a further positive step as Hong Kong continues to open up to the world .
Fortnum & Mason’s was negotiating with Reliance Retail to bring the chain into India. The deal could make India Fortnum & Mason the second market in Asia to have a physical Fortnum & Mason store.
