One of the changes introduced in “Fortnite” Chapter 3 Season 2 saw the removal of building mechanics in the game’s default mode. Officially, Epic Games said this is going to be just a limited-time feature. But new datamine suggests the developer is planning on making it a permanent game mode.
The information comes from two noted leakers, who have reportedly seen some evidence pointing to a new No Build mode in the pipeline. Hypex said a separate no build mode was spotted in the game’s files that Epic could enable anytime after the current limited-time event. The same source also noted seeing changes in the loading screen information, including new tips with the phrase “In modes with building enabled,“ hinting at Epic planning to make the distinction between game modes where players can build structures.
TweaBR also shared an image likely from the “Fortnite” files that show a new game mode titled “Solo - No Build Battle Royale.” The dataminer reported that similar assets were seen that point to no build game modes for duos, trios, and squad matches.
The 'No Builds' LTM that will be available after 8 days will be called 'Solo - No Build Battle Royale'.

there's other versions of It too but I took this one to show you the name of It! pic.twitter.com/7jHbZjZBUY
Building is one of the core elements of “Fortnite,” and it has been one of the game’s unique features compared to the ever-growing list of online battle royale games. So it has been quite a change since Epic introduced the no build mechanics for the new season that kicked off on March 20.
The no build mode, in its current form, is tied to the “Fortnite” Chapter 3 Season 2 story. As can be seen in this trailer, the villainous group Imagined Order arrives at the island with a device that could instantly disintegrate buildings across the map. Since the main goal is defeating the group, it is likely for the default mode to get the building mechanics back as the story progresses.
However, it would not be surprising for the leaks to come true as well by making the no build gameplay into its own game mode. This would not be the first time that Epic would turn a limited-time event into a permanent “Fortnite” game mode. Team Rumble initially launched as part of the season 9 content and events before it eventually became a core game mode.
