Fans who are still following the journey of Soma Yukihira are probably asking the same question right now. When will the “Food Wars” season 5 episode 3 be released? The best hope they have is to finally see it this weekend, but all indications suggest otherwise.
‘Food Wars’ season 5 episode 3 release date
For the past three weekends, fans had no choice but to watch reruns of the Fourth Plate instead of seeing “Food Wars” season 5 episode 3. The anime adaptation has been one of the shows that had to postpone its regular programming due to coronavirus.
When the hiatus was announced, it was also confirmed that the first three episodes of the Fourth Plate would go on the air in replacement of the schedules supposedly for “Food Wars” season 5 episodes 3, 4, and 5. Beyond that, it appears that the hiatus will continue.
Producers previously promised to announce if the “Food Wars” season 5 episode 3 release date is finally decided through the show’s official website or Twitter page. As of this writing, both channels still do not contain updates about the airing of a new episode for May 15.

At this point, it likely means that there will not be a new episode this coming weekend as well. Interestingly, there was not also an announcement that the reruns of season 4 will proceed on May 15 onward. This could mean that “Food Wars” will temporarily go off the air in the meantime.
‘Food Wars’ season 5 episode 3 spoilers
It is understandable if fans are a little more excited about “Food Wars” season 5 episode 3. The sudden hiatus somewhat left the Fifth Plate in a cliffhanger as Soma and Suzuki agree to compete in a spontaneous shokugeki.
Suzuki is still being coy about his real identity and Soma can sense that. That explains why the latter wants his reward, when he wins the shokugeki, to be the chance to learn all about this new Totsuki instructor. Suzuki, on the other hand, will want Soma to wager his knife. This is an important detail to remember about the new character for when his real identity is revealed whether in “Food Wars” season 5 episode 3 or in other future episodes.
