“Fast and Furious 9” will start filming soon but pre-production of the movie already began in February. Vin Diesel and the production crew flew to London and the actor relayed this development to the fans via social media. In a short, clip, he also shared that they will begin the official filming in May or June.
Now, “Fast and Furious 9” will not include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson anymore and he confirmed this himself when he was interviewed by MTV. At that time, the pro-wrestler turned actor told the outlet, "The plan has always been for the Fast & Furious universe to grow and expand. As of now, we're not in Fast 9 because they're getting ready to start shooting."
Then again, he said that there is still a chance that he may be back in “Fast and Furious 10” because his character as Hobbs has unfinished business with Dominic “Dom” Toretto. "But who knows with Fast 10 and down the road, you never know. Because look, at the end of the day, the truth is there's unfinished business between Hobbs and Dom. It's unfinished," Johnson said.
Release Date
According to Variety, Universal Pictures, the studio that will release “Fast and Furious 9,” originally scheduled the movie to come out in theaters on April 10, 2020, but it was decided to move it to May 22, 2020. This is actually the second delay of the film’s release since in 2017, it was announced that it will be out on April 19 this year. Since “Fast and Furious 9” will not arrive this year, the spinoff called the “Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw” will take its place instead.
Finale
After the “Fast and Furious 9,” it was revealed that only one more film is left in the successful movie franchise. The film’s producer, Neal Moritz, shared their plan for the #Fast movies and stated that there are plans to end the franchise already.
"We kind of have the ending point of the franchise, but we don’t know the in-betweens yet. Yeah, the plan is to make two more movies,” he told Collider in an interview. “That’s just all of us kind of putting our heads together and coming together with something that we think is very special."
“Fast and Furious 9” will not be back until 2020 but when it returns, fans can expect it continue from where “The Fate of the Furious” left things back in 2017. Meanwhile, the “Hobbs & Shaw” spinoff will hit the cinemas on Aug. 2 with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
