Thomson Reuters and Ethereum are going to host a blockchain hackathon in Canary Wharf, London, that will focus on exploring the potential of Ethereum blockchain and smart contracts.
“Ethereum's blockchain and smart contracts offer almost limitless scope to codify all manner of processes within the enterprise. This weekend is an opportunity for teams to explore this with access to data, cutting-edge tools and guidance & support from the Ethereum Foundation, academics and industry professionals active in the space”, the website reads.
Starting today, the weekend-long hackathon counts the likes of Oraclize, Crypto Compare and Ethcore as technology partners; UCL and Imperial College of London as academic partners; Innovate UK and Coinsilium as government and investment partners; and Barclays, Clearmatics, and Tramonex as financial partners.
Finextra reported that the main objective of the event is to engage with the nascent blockchain developer community and to experiment with "never before seen beta tech" in a controlled environment, according to Thomson Reuters. The official site lists Thomson Reuters BlockOne ID for Ethereum and HackETHon Oracle; and Oraclize Public Data APIs as the tools that will be made available to developers who will focus on coming up with solutions for data-driven smart contracts and Ethereum smart contract security.
Speakers include Péter Szilágyi, Core developer, Ethereum Foundation and Jack Gavigan of Zcash. Winners will be announced on September 11.
