Errol Spence Jr is currently the favorite to win his upcoming fight against Shawn Porter. The undefeated fighter has the height and reach advantage, as well as raw power.

While Errol Spence Jr didn’t manage to finish off Mikey Garcia a few months ago, the fight was nevertheless one-sided due to Spence’s remarkable boxing style. Porter, on the other hand, hasn’t shown he has what it takes to knock people out since the last time he did was back in 2017.

Thus, it’s not surprising that the odds have Errol Spence Jr as minus-900 favorite, while Porter a plus-550 underdog, according to the numbers of Odd Shark. There is a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming match, with Kenny Porter – Shawn’s father and trainer – claiming that it’s going to be Fight of the Year.

Errol Spence Jr and Kenny Porter’s previous partnership

There’s also the fact that Errol Spence Jr and Kenny Porter worked together in the past. In fact, the senior Porter was at the side of the 29-year-old when he lost to Krishnan Vikas, OCRegister reported.

“It’s not that I see any weaknesses in him. But there were things we tried to get Errol [Spence Jr] to do, things that might have gotten him a gold medal, that he never would do,” Kenny said.

With the older Porter’s past relationship with Spence, it would be interesting to see what sort of game plan they’ve come up with to stop him on his tracks. Errol Spence Jr already said that he’s going to be the aggressor in this fight and means to knock Shawn out in spectacular fashion. His jabs are one of the deadliest weapons in his arsenal, using it to set the tempo until he wears his opponent out. Then, his left hand will start to fly.

Errol Spence Jr said he wants to knock Shawn Porter out

Meanwhile, Shawn’s strength lies in his stamina. Although he doesn’t have the raw power to knock out Errol Spence Jr, he has shown that he’s willing to take punishment to get in close with his opponent. The question is whether or not Shawn can endure the pain that Spence will dish out. Keep in mind that of the 25 wins under Spence’s belt, 21 came by way of knockout.

As for what Errol Spence Jr is planning for his future, it appears that he wants to fight Manny Pacquiao next. Following that, he admitted that he'd be looking to get in the ring with Terence Crawford, a match that would undoubtedly sell like pancakes since both men are considered the best within their division.
