The season 2 finale of “Empire” titled “Past Is Prologue” is almost here and things are about to get explosive. From the threat by Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) mother to reveal his darkest secrets, to determining the fate of the family’s music business, things are expected to heat up really fast.
In a post by The Wall Street Journal, “Empire” Executive Producer Sanaa Hamri said that the finale is going to be “insane.”
“The stories are intricate and completely intertwined with the family,” she said in the post by WSJ. “I just think people are going to get a true dose of the ‘Empire’ of it all.”
All through season 2, the Lyons family has had to contend with a rollercoaster of shocking events which left their relationship with each other more strained than ever. Frank Gathers who was played by Chris Rock was murdered on the orders of Lucious, the FBI might convince Anika Calhoun to testify against him, and the Empire Entertainment founder’s image that he built might come crumbling down around him.
In the show’s YouTube page, it also looks like a wedding is in the works. Now, fans who have been following the show would know that Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Laura (Jamila Velazquez) were planning to get married. As such, it’s only natural to assume that the wedding in question would be of the two lovebirds.
However, Taraji P. Henson who plays Cookie in the show hints that this might not be the case.
“There is a wedding happening in this grand finale episode, but not the wedding you thought,” she said on the video.
This statement prompted rampant speculations, with the most prominent being the possibility that the wedding might end up being Lucious and Cookie’s. This seems the most likely since in the later episodes of the season, their relationship seems to have gotten better and the couple has even started showing signals leaning towards the romantic side of things.
