“Empire” Season 5 Episode 18 will finally be answering the question that hung on everyone’s head this installment: who’s inside the coffin? The most obvious choice, of course, is Andre (Trai Byers) since his impending death has already been established.
Jamal (Jussie Smollett) dying in “Empire” Season 5 Episode 18 is out the question since it’s been confirmed that he will be returning in the series. The problem for the actor is that there’s no telling when he’ll be back as the agreement only ensures Jamal’s storyline remains open for the showrunners, CNN reported.
Another unlikely candidate for the casket is Cookie (Taraji P. Henson). However, even though she’s going to survive “Empire” Season 5 Episode 18, there’s a small chance that her relationship with Lucious (Terrence Howard) will remain intact once the finale concludes. Lucious was trying to help Andre die without informing Cookie. That sort of betrayal isn’t something that can be healed, even with time.
This conflict has already produced a devastating effect on Andre as his parents’ spat resulted in him collapsing due to his weakened heart unable to take the stress. As such, “Empire” Season 5 Episode 18 will be widening the rift between Lucious and Cookie, especially if this results in Andre’s death.
While it’s still unclear who’s inside the coffin, fans already know that Lucious is remorseful for whoever lies within it. Perhaps the head Lyon is blaming himself for not helping his son battle through his condition and instead aid him in trying to take his life. Whoever it is, “Empire” Season 5 Episode 18 will surely bring yet another blow in the already shaky Lyon outfit. As for when the finale will air, it’s been slated for release on May 8. It would be interesting to see how this installment concludes and what the creative minds behind the series will be set up for season six.
