Dor Eckstein Explains How Your Diet Can Change Your Physique

A fitness program is 80% of what you eat and 20% of how you work out. This is not some proverb. It's a statement from one of the most famous fitness instructors in Israel, Dor Eckstein. According to Dor, working out for hours will not matter if you don't change your diet. If you want to reach your fitness goals, you must follow a strict diet plan.

Q: Mr. Eckstein, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule and talking to us today. Can you tell us how nutrition plays a vital role in the health of a person?

A: First of all, thank you for inviting me. Well, let me put it this way. What you eat has a more significant impact on your body than how you work out. I always tell my clients to have three good meals that could be pizza or sushi. You don't have to eat quinoa all day for you to be healthy and in good shape. this may sound odd, but you'll believe it when you start seeing the results. If you want to get your body in shape, you need to get rid of these foods. You will thank me later once you notice the significant changes in your body after a few months.

Q: Do you prescribe the same diet to everyone?

A: No, not at all. Someone who needs to lose weight has a different diet than someone who wants to tone his muscles. I start by examining my client's body type and metabolic rate. This helps me identify what type of diet is suitable for the client.

I have many skinny clients who want to gain muscle. Their diets are entirely different. Therefore, I don't have any fixed diet plan for everyone. I keep changing them according to their body type and fitness goals.

Q: Do your clients have to work out every day apart from following the diet?

A: Good question. Contrary to what many people believe, your body doesn't require you to work out daily to get into shape. Ideally, you should work out three times a week to incorporate strength training into your routine. I am particular about this. Forget aerobics for a while and focus only on strength training if you want to get into shape within a few months.

Also, don't skip meals. One of the reasons why my methods are easy to follow is they don't pressure you into doing something. Yes, you may have to change your diet, but you also don't need to work out for hours every day.

Q: Do you have any message for those who aspire to become fitness instructors?

A: Always listen to your client's story in detail. Small things matter a lot in providing personalized diet plans and exercise programs. And most importantly, don't stop reading academic articles about nutrition and fitness. You'll always find something new to learn.
