DTCC To Hold Blockchain Symposium On March 29

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is going to hold a blockchain event “2016 Blockchain Symposium” on March 29 in New York. The event will bring together industry thought leaders, technology experts and policy makers and will discuss business application of blockchain and distributed ledger technology for financial market infrastructure and the industry.

The symposium “Blockchain: Tapping into the Real Potential” aims to “ cut through the hype, discuss collaboration and use cases and imagine what innovations the future may bring.”

Panel topics include:

  • How do we get from today to tomorrow? Building the roadmap for blockchain industry collaboration on standards, protocols & use cases
  • Blockchain...the right model for the securities industry? Permissioned versus permissionless blockchains and the future of the securities industry
  • How is the blockchain different from the internet bubble? What does the future gold - boom or bust?

The event will feature Blythe Masters, CEO, Digital Asset Holdings as a keynote speaker and a special address by J. Christopher Giancarlo, Commissioner, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Other speakers include Lee Braine, Investment Bank CTO Office, Barclays; David Rutter, CEO, R3; Jeff Garzik, CEO, Bloq; Patrick Byrne, CEO, Overstock; Michael Casey, Senior Advisor for Blockchain Opportunities, Digital Currency Initiative, MIT Media Lab; Adrienne Harris, Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy, National Economic Council, The White House; and many others.
