“Code Black” season 4 may have been canceled already but there is a big chance that it will be revived. Its cancellation almost three months ago broke the fans heart and many of them aired their frustrations over the dismissal of the show. But it seems that CBS is regretting its decision and now saying that they may bring it back.
At the recent Television Critics Association summer press tour, CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl changed his stance and appeared to be optimistic about the possibility of having “Code Black” season 4.
"We have considered bringing it back. It's doing incredibly well," Kahl told the press. “It's a well-done show. We'd like to figure out a way to make it work.”
He then hinted that it was the economics side that made them cancel the show earlier. Kahl then admitted that the series was performing well so they are “going to take a look.”
In May, it was the producer Michael Seitzman who first broke the sad news that “Code Black” season 4 is not happening. On his Twitter, part of his message reads, “Dear #CodeBlack fans, the sad news came today that we were canceled. Thank you for all of your passion.”
Moreover, Deadline reported that although the show got a very good reception from the viewers, CBS might not have been satisfied with the ratings. The publication shared that the viewer rating when “Code Black” season 3 premiere was down by 33 percent compared its second installment, so this might have contributed to the decision to remove the show.
Although this was the case, “Code Black” season 3 was the still the most-watched show in the 10 p.m. time slot. It also recorded a total of 5.6 million viewers throughout the third season so it was really doing well.
When the show was canceled, Rob Lowe (Dr. Ethan Willis) also expressed his disappointment. “I wonder how (canceled) 'Code Black' being the NUMBER ONE show of the night, fits into CBS new business model. Asking for a friend (and a crew of 150 people),” he wrote on social media in June.
With the latest news that “Code Black” season 4 may be back on the air, via Twitter, the actor took another swipe at CBS execs by saying that the network has not tried to reach the show’s showrunner so it “should be taken with a mound of salt.”
“Code Black” stars Marcia Gay Harden (Dr. Leanne Rorish), Boris Kodjoe (Dr. Will Campbell), Harry Ford (Dr. Angus Leighton), Benjamin Hollingsworth (Mario Savetti), William Allen Young (Dr. Rollie Guthrie), Emily Tyra, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Alyn (Lind) and Moon Bloodgood, Luis Guzmán (Jesse Salander) and Rob Lowe.
