Burger King UK recently opened its very first plant-based store in the country, and to celebrate this, it is offering a special deal. The fast-food giant is treating customers to Meat-Free Monday, which will give big discounts on plant-based food items.
As per Wales Online, customers, especially the vegan ones, can enjoy good food at Burger King UK's plant-based outlet while not spending much on Monday. The chain is inviting fans to visit its vegan store, which will be open for a month, and get their Plant-based Whopper or Vegan Royale for only £1.99 next week, on March 21.
Burger King UK is piloting its vegan restaurant for a month, and it is currently open at the brand's Leicester Square flagship store. All the food items on the menu are "meatless," and aside from the plant-based Whopper and Vegan Royale, customers can also choose from over 25 menu options, including over 15 new items.
Some of the food available at Leicester Square until April 10 are the Vegan Nugget Burger, Vegan Cheeze & Bakon Royale, Vegan Katsu Royale, Plant-based Katsu Chilli Whopper, Plant-based Cheeeze & Bakon Whopper, Plant-based King Jr Hamburger Meal, Vegan Fries.
Vegan Nuggets, Plant-based Onion Rings, Vegan Chilli Cheeeze bites, and more. For dessert, Burger King UK is also selling Ben & Jerry's Cookie on Cookie Dough Non-Dairy Ice Cream.
It was said that BK will be observing to see which of the vegan items are the most popular. It will also be collecting feedback to determine the plant-based menu options to add to the menu for national release across the United Kingdom in the future.
The restaurant revealed its goal to offer wider and better food options for vegans, meat-lovers, vegetarians, and flexitarians. The meat-free menu at Burger King has been created following years of research and development along with the Vegan Society to make sure that the food has the same flavor as real grilled meat.
"The limited-edition menu is a direct result of our focus on vegan and plant-based innovation," Burger King UK's chief marketing officer, Katie Evans, said in a statement. "It goes hand in hand with our target of a 50% meat-free menu by 2030. This is in addition to our commitment to sustainability and responsible business."
Vegan Food and Living reported that the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) acknowledged and applauded Burger King's initiative to offer more vegan items. "The planet needs a game-changing shift away from meat to combat the climate emergency and Burger King is leading the way," PETA UK's director of vegan corporate projects, Dawn Carr, said.
