Arnhem Bitcoinstad has announced that there are now 100 venues that accept Bitcoin in Arnhem, with Burger King in the city being the latest entrant in the project.

“The 100th participant of Arnhem Bitcoinstad is worth a celebration and it will be many people rejoice that from Thursday also your milkshake or Whopper can pay with bitcoins! A warm welcome for Burger King Arnhem!” Arnhem Bitcoinstad said in a Facebook post.

"Arnhem Bitcoinstad" ('Bitcoincity') as they call it, helps business owners accept bitcoins and organise informative sessions about Bitcoin. The website lists various food & drinks, shopping and other outlets that accept bitcoin in Arnhem – Urban Chef, Bistro Piaf, Cook-and-Book, Scuba World, Chilax to name a few.

A Reddit post says that the project aims “to start a real Bitcoin economy, and prove that a real, viable alternative for the current financial system is possible and actually happening”.

The post explains that Burger King Arnhem is owned by a franchisee and when the owner heard about the Bitcoin project in the city, he decided to give it a try.

On Friday, February 19th, a Bitcoin Meetup is scheduled at this Burger King restaurant. Organized by Arnhem Bitcoin Users group, the meetup starts at 19:02 and following a dinner at Burger King, they will move to one of the many bars or pubs in Arnhem Bitcoincity that accept Bitcoin, as decided by the meetup participants.
