In the age where shooting game is as popular as ever, it’s curious why Gearbox hasn’t released any solid information about “Borderlands 3.” Other than the fact that the studio admitted that they’re going to make the next entry for the franchise, nothing is known about this game.
That is until the sleuths started digging. One of the most popular speculations for years is the location of “Borderlands 3.” Gamers would be delighted to know that the third installment will not be set in Pandora but on a different planet. A place called Promethea, PC Gamer reported.
The rumor first originated when eagle-eyed gamers noticed Easter Eggs placed in Gearbox’s other game “Battleborn.” One of the clues about “Borderlands 3” is the Promethea graffiti in the “Battleborn” map that came with a vault symbol on its side.
Strengthening this claim are the clues found in the same game; this time coming in the form of Morse Code. “Visit Promethea” one of the audios hinted. “Tannis is not what she seems,” warned another. This is a clear sign that “Borderlands 3” will be set in a different location with Tannis as its possible antagonist.
Regarding the title’s cannon-fodders, it appears that more mask-wearing pyschos will be pestering players within “Borderlands 3” as hinted by Gearbox CEO Richard Pitchford. And speaking of Pitchford, the CEO is currently in the process of clearing his name as he’s been accused of stealing money from the company allegedly amounting to $12 million.
What’s more, he’s also been accused of possessing child pornography, as well as hosting parties where adults expose themselves to minors. Gearbox has already said that the allegations of former company lawyer Wade Callender is unsubstantiated and they’re willing to meet him in court to debunk his claims. As for when fans can expect “Borderlands 3” to be finished, it will likely come out sometime in 2020 or 2021.
But it’s best to remain skeptical about this speculation and wait for official announcement from the studio just to be sure. Gearbox is set to hold a panel at the upcoming PAX East on March 28 and it’s likely they’ll reveal more information about “Borderlands 3” during their appearance.
