The end of the first season of “Bodyguard” might make “Bodyguard” Season 2 a complicated project to take on, largely because of how well-known it has made Richard Madden’s David Budd. Basically, due to the fact that his face has now become so recognizable, it might make his job as a bodyguard impossible. Of course, there are ways to get around this matter, but all of them pose their own sets of challenges.
In a recent interview, the actor talked about how difficult David’s fame has made bringing “Bodyguard” Season 2 to life. Ideally, those charged to protect others from harm should not draw attention to the client. This would be hard to do in the case of the character since he would now be recognized wherever he may go.
“There hasn’t been an official announcement [of more episodes] yet. Me and Jed very much want to work together again, so we’re playing about with ideas of where it can go. You have to take in consideration how well-known the character would be because he’s been on television with the bomb vest strapped to him through Central London. So I wonder how that’s going to affect his future career path,” Richard Madden said.
The concerns with regards to the career of David Budd are well-founded in that it would now be impossible for him to guard anyone without catching the eye of the media or the public. One possible solution would be for him to take on a more administrative role in “Bodyguard” Season 2 where he would be behind a desk or in front of monitors.
It could also be possible for him in “Bodyguard” Season 2 to use that fame for a particular purpose with a specific client who will have special needs. Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that the second season of the hit show has yet to start production. If they are to begin this year, the show could return in early 2021
