Blockchange Consulting, a Dubai-based consultancy and tech development company focused specifically on blockchain technology, has announced a series of one day seminars across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The seminar series will commence in Dubai on Tuesday 10th May, 2016, followed by Abu Dhabi on Wednesday 11th May, 2016, Doha on Tuesday 17th May, 2016, and concluding in Bahrain on Thursday 19th May 2016. Registrations can be made at Blockchange’s website.

The seminars aim to provide an introduction to digital currencies and the underlying blockchain technology, how the technology will reshape the future of banking and financial services, and showcase what banks and financial institutions worldwide are already doing with the technology.

The news comes on the heels of recent announcement by The Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation about the formation of the Global Blockchain Council. The creation of the council represents a significant landmark, not only for the technology, but for businesses operating in the region, the press release said.

"It is vital that banking and financial services businesses in the region understand the importance of this announcement and the potential of this technology. Banking and financial services businesses will be forced to embrace this technology in the future, whether they like it or not, so it makes sense to understand and embrace the technology at the earliest possible opportunity”, Stef van Leijden, Director of Business Development for Blockchange DMCC said in a statement.
