Blockchain-Powered Governance Project BITNATION Partners With Liberland

BITNATION, the world’s first blockchain-powered decentralized borderless voluntary nation (DBVN), has announced its partnership with Liberland.

Like BITNATION, Liberland works on an open source governance model. Liberland came into existence due to a border dispute between Croatia and Serbia. As this area along the west bank of the Danube river is not claimed by Croatia, Serbia or any other country, it was ‘terra nullius’ – a no man’s land. Vít Jedlička seized this opportunity and on 13 April 2015 formed a new state in this territory – Liberland. Its total area of approximately 7 km² is now the third smallest sovereign state, after the Vatican and Monaco.

“Liberland is a perfect partner in our ongoing search for platforms (like Ethereum), organisations (like Exosphere), and forward-looking Nations (like Estonia) to join us in our mission to create a peaceful and voluntary nation for all who wish to participate”, BITNATION said. “We admire Liberland’s mission to set a bold precedent for geographical sovereignty. We have great respect for Vít Jedlička and the various people responsible for the self-willed creation of this special ‘city state in the making’.”

This partnership will enable citizens of Liberland around the world to enjoy services even when they’re not in the physical space of Liberland. Similar to BITNATION citizens, Liberland citizens will have access to all of BITNATION’s Do-It-Yourself Governance services either for free, or at a significant discount. The current services include a blockchain-based Public Notary, a network of Embassies and Allies around the world, an education program, a refugee program, and more. New services are added every month.

In February, BitNation announced that it has coded the world’s first, virtual nation constitution ‘Bitnation:Pangea’. It is a collaborative platform for DIY Governance, providing all services traditional governments provides.
