Big Banks To Attend European Blockchain Congress On April 27

Kisaco Research will be hosting European Blockchain Congress from 27-28 April at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London - Docklands Riverside in London, which will be assessing the business and technology case for adopting blockchain.

“The European Blockchain Congress will provide a key space to explore the practical perspectives, approaches and applications of blockchain technology for all stakeholders in the industry”, the release said.

The event aims at providing business executives an update on the practical progress blockchain technology has made. During the two-day event, leading technology, insurance and financial institutions will present case studies and assess the success and failures of blockchain projects.

Some distinguished names in the industry will be speaking at the event: 

  • Simon Taylor, VP of Blockchain R+D and Experimentation, Barclays will tackle questions regarding regulation, industry challenges and how to deliver efficiency savings without implementing drastic restructures.
  • Julio Faura, Head of R+D and Innovation, Santander will be shedding light on the proof of concept work that the company has been developing. He will also explore the future of regulation and the common standards companies need to have in place in order to grow the industry.

Other speakers include Fredrik Voss, Vice President, Blockchain Innovation, Nasdaq; Alex Batlin, Head of FinTech Innovation Lab, UBS; and Joseph Lubin, Founder, Consensys. Representatives from Commerzbank AG, R3 CEV, BNP Paribas, Royal Bank of Scotland, London Stock Exchange, and others will also be speaking at the event.

Saul Chambers, Event Director, Kisaco Research, listed the key topics that will be discussed during the event. This includes:

  • The business and technology case for and against adoption
  • How to tackle scalability and security issues
  • The need for collaboration and competition
  • How will regulation affect the adoption of blockchain?
  • How best to foster growing innovation in the space

In order to familiarize people with the blockchain concept, Dave Birch, Director of Innovation at Consult Hyperion, will be hosting an initial Blockchain 101 on 26th April.
