The rumor that Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter is still makings its round on the web despite being debunked multiple times. Of course, given that high-profile Hollywood separation draws in a lot of clicks, it’s unsurprising that gossip tabloids are rehashing the same angle over and over again.
The angle in question is that Benedict Cumberbatch is too busy with his career to give his wife the quality time that she deserves. It’s a complete fabrication, of course.
In recent months, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter have been seen in public in high spirits. They’ve even displayed a bit of PDA at the recently concluded BAFTA TV Awards, Express reported.
No evidence supporting Benedict Cumberbatch divorce rumors
So where exactly did this rumor come from? Unsurprisingly, it came from one of the most prolific gossip starters on the web, OK! (via Gossip Cop). Apparently, a source close to Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter told the tabloid of the situation, which is already suspicious, to begin with.
“He’s been getting the kinds of offers that he can’t possibly pass up,” the source divulged. “He’s pulling in a fortune and has more Marvel movies planned, in addition to his usual roster of high-end dramas, but it means a lot of time away from his family.” A quick search on the web and one can see that no reliable publications like PEOPLE or Weekly Entertainment are covering this supposed Benedict Cumberbatch divorce rumor.
Tom Holland reacts to Benedict Cumberbatch’s impression of him
There’s also the fact that OK! is tagged as a publication that constantly pumps out fabricated stories. For instance, it reported in April that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Live are also going to get a divorce. Months later, nothing ever came off the narrative, and it’s safe to assume that the same thing will happen about this Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter story.
As for the “Dr. Strange” actor’s relationship with his other co-stars, that’s going swimmingly as well. Tom Holland, for example, recently weighed in his reaction about Benedict Cumberbatch’s impersonation of him during an interview with BBC Radio 1. Holland admitted that the impersonation is good, praising the energy although noting that the accent isn’t really there. You can watch Holland’s reaction below.
