Barack Obama has been encouraging Americans and people across the globe to practice social distancing amid the coronavirus outbreak.

On Monday, the ex-POTUS shared a video the features a frightening infection simulator that shows how fast the coronavirus can spread if left unchecked. The clip was originally shared by the Washington Post and it shows how a healthy person can easily get sick when they interact with an unhealthy individual.

“Watch this. It shows why we should all do the right thing and stay home to the fullest extent possible. All of us can help slow the spread of the virus, protecting the elderly, the vulnerable, and each other,” Obama tweeted.

In a follow-up tweet, the former president said that not everyone can stay at home during this difficult time.

“And we owe a big debt of gratitude to health professionals, transit, and airport workers, first responders, and everyone keeping our communities going. Leaders have to step up to support people whose lives and livelihoods take a hit in the weeks ahead,” he wrote.

Netizens immediately flocked the ex-POTUS’s Twitter account to share their thoughts on social distancing. Some of them praised Michelle Obama’s husband, while others also criticized Barack.

“Must elongate epidemic curve for a slow rise, slow fall @VP. No political rallies, empty stadium sporting, close schools, paid work leave, shut down public gatherings, testing kits everywhere, source tracing, screen inbound flights, make testing free!” Twitter user @ChrisJZullo said.

“Social distancing is something everyone should do to reduce the risk of transmission and #FlattenTheCurve,” Twitter user @ifindkarma said.

“When Obama was president, we didn’t run out of toilet paper,” Twitter user @wuhahnsolo said.

“Step 1: stay home, Step 2: vote Trump out, Step 3: return to normalcy,” Twitter user @TrentCapelli said.

“Can’t even express how badly you’re missed,” Twitter user @DocEgonSpengler said.

“Thank you for continuing to lead us. You always have America’s best interests at heart and God, do we miss you,” Twitter user @trainquileyes30 said.

“Said the crook,” Twitter user @cfloatthegent said.

“Barack Obama must be punished,” Twitter user @Real_Talk_News said.
