Over the past month, various reports have been published claiming that Michelle Obama and Barack Obama are going through a nasty and expensive divorce. But the former first couple does not need to directly address the rumors to show the public their marriage is doing fine. In fact, it only took just one Instagram post.
Michelle Obama admires Barack Obama’s presidential portrait
The Obamas have been enjoying their lives as private citizens since officially leaving the White House in early 2017. But they remain active with joint projects such as the nonprofit Obama Foundation along with several public engagements.
For one, Mrs. Obama attended a Sunday night gala at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., where she awarded Lin-Manuel Miranda with the Portrait of a Nation Prize. The venue also houses presidential portraits, including that of her husband.
The former first lady then made a quick stop to adoringly stare at President Obama’s portrait by artist Kehinde Wiley. The heartwarming moment was shared on her Instagram page and was simply captioned with a heart emoji along with her husband’s official Instagram handle.
Mrs. Obama’s followers gushed over the way she looks at her husband’s portrait with one fan commenting, “Your marriage is inspiring.” Many other commenters are practically saying the same thing: “We miss you in the White House.” With just one photo and a very simple caption, Mrs. Obama was able to prove to everyone that all the divorce rumors appearing on tabloids over the past weeks are not true.
Michelle Obama, Barack Obama ‘rediscovering’ romance after leaving White House
Many Americans consistently comment online on how they miss having the Obamas in the White House. But the former president and first lady have been implying in several interviews how they love their life as private citizens.
Mrs. Obama previously told PEOPLE they have been able to spend more quality time as a couple since they left their official posts. “We are finding each other again,” the author of “Becoming,” said. At the time of the interview, the Obamas had just gone on a romantic vacation at Palm Spring that the former first lady said was “good” and noted that it was, “The first time in a long time it was just the two of us.”
