BMW Korea, Hyundai, and three other carmakers reportedly issued recalls on their respective vehicle model for defective parts. It was said that the five companies are voluntarily recalling the affected units.

As per Yonhap News Agency, a total of 238,914 vehicles would be called back, and this was revealed by the transport ministry in South Korea on Thursday, April 1. This is the latest issuance of vehicle recalls in the country due to various issues related to the vehicles’ components.

The list of companies in the recall

Aside from the mentioned BMW Korea and Hyundai Motors, the others are Kia Corp., Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA) Korea, and Ford Sales & Service Korea Inc. The given number of the models in the recall is the combined total for all five companies.

The country’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport stated that 39 models from these brands had been listed with faulty parts. One of the cited problems is the defective exhaust gas recirculation or EGR that was found in BMW's 520d sedan.

The malfunctioning high-pressure fuel pipe in Hyundai’s Genesis G80 and G70 sedans was also mentioned in addition to FCA Korea’s 300C car’s flawed crankshaft wheel. The five vehicle manufacturers will be providing services for the needed repairs and parts replacements.

To have their vehicles checked and fixed, owners must visit the authorized service centers. Apparently, the parts replacements will be for free.

More details about the recall
