Next month, Apple anticipates introducing the iPad Pro with OED displays, which will include an array of new front-facing features and modifications. With upcoming additions, Apple is also anticipated to increase the price of its devices. Previous rumors suggested that the price of the OLED iPad Pro models could match that of the brand-new MacBook Pros.
It seems that previous speculations were partially accurate, as Apple is targeting a substantial price increase for the OLED iPad Pro models as a result of the display technology upgrade.
OLED iPad Pro Models to Launch With a Major Price Hike Next Month Due to Higher Panel Costs
In its most recent report, Omdia details a strategic plan for Apple's transition to OLED. A potential future iteration of the MacBook is among the devices that will receive the upgrade to the new display technology—a foldable device measuring 20.3 inches, as per WCCFTech.
In addition, Apple is expected to release upgrades for the iPad Air and iPad Mini in 2026 and 2027, respectively, according to the report. Nonetheless, details regarding the panel costs of the 11-inch and 13-inch OLED iPad Pro variants are also disclosed in the publication.
The 11-inch OLED panel for the iPad Pro is priced between $280 and $290, while the 13-inch OLED panel will cost between $380 and $390, according to the report. Potentially, this will account for the significant price increase of the OLED iPad Pro. It has been mentioned previously that OLED iPad Pro models could cost the equivalent of M3 Pro MacBook Pro models.
According to the rumor, the 11-inch OLED panel for the iPad Pro costs between $280 and $290, while the 13-inch OLED panel will cost between $380 and $390. This may potentially explain the substantial price escalation associated with the OLED iPad Pro. A priori, it was suggested that OLED iPad Pro models might be priced similarly to M3 Pro MacBook Pro models.
Apple’s Slimmer OLED iPad Pros to Arrive with Enhanced Displays
The OLED display represents a significant improvement over the mini-LED and LCD displays found on the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, respectively. In addition to producing brighter blacks and greater contrast ratios, the panels' energy consumption will be reduced due to the OLED displays' minimal power requirements. In addition, the organization intends to redesign the iPad Pro's chassis to accommodate a marginally larger display.
Furthermore, recent reports indicate that the iPad Pro will be considerably slimmer than its predecessors, measuring approximately 5.1mm for the 11-inch model and 5mm for the 13-inch model. As previously stated, Apple will unveil the OLED iPad Pro variants by the end of the following month.
