After months of waiting, the Apple watchOS 5.2 update for the Apple Watch Series 4 has finally allowed users outside of the US to enjoy the feature of the device that literally measures a user’s pulse. The electrocardiogram (EKG) feature is one that many have been looking forward to due to the implications of its existence. After all, what would have taken a trip to the clinic or the hospital is now accessible via a wearable device.
As The Verge reports, the EKG feature for the Apple Watch Series 4 has been around for a few months in the US since it launched back in December of 2018. Since then, users outside of the US have been waiting for their turn to take the feature out for a spin. Thanks to the Apple watchOS 5.2 update, now they can and people have already been putting it to good use.
On the matter of why this would even matter, the EKG feature is basically an excellent health implement that allows users wearing the Apple Watch to keep tracking their heart rhythm. Granted, there were other devices that did this, but none of them allowed wearers to take calls and read messages at the same time. This is what makes the feature brought about by the Apple watchOS 5.2 update so revolutionary.
In order to enable the feature, users really only need to bring up the Health App and then follow the process as indicated. The results can then be recorded in a PDF, which can be sent to the user’s preferred physician to check. On that note, the EKG is just the tip of what Apple watchOS 5.2 can offer.
There is also the matter of the new watch face featuring the iconic fashion brand, Hermes. The Apple watchOS 5.2 update also brings with it substantial security upgrades.
