It has been confirmed that Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” will have a new character introduced in the series. According to Entertainment Weekly, British actress Janet McTeer will be joining the cast as an “undisclosed character who will have an enormous impact on Jessica’s life.” The titular character is played by Krysten Ritter.
Series creator Melissa Rosenberg said, “We couldn’t possibly be more excited to work with Ms. McTeer for our second season. Her gravitas and authenticity are the perfect ingredients for all we’re trying to create this year. She disappears into roles, gives her characters extraordinary dimension and depth. We’re incredibly fortunate to be able to collaborate with her.”
Digital Spy said McTeer is a double Academy Award nominee. She scored the nominations for her work in “Tumbleweeds” and “Albert Nobbs.”
The casting news is just one of the several Den of Geek is expecting, but will be awaiting for confirmation if there's another actor set up to become the Season 2 villain. But the real treat for the Netflix show’s fans is for Trish (Rachel Taylor) to transform into the formidable Hellcat and aid Jessica in fighting the baddies. In the meantime, fans will have to contend with the upcoming “Defenders,” of which Jessica will team up with Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Danny Rand aka Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Matt Murdock aka Daredevil (Charlie Cox) starting August 18.
Earlier this week, a 16-second video teaser for the series showed all four superheroes in an elevator, probably waiting to alight at a floor for some combat. E! notes, “Luke Cage is out of prison, obviously, and has bullet holes in his shirt, Daredevil is in a Matt Murdock suit with a makeshift mask and Iron Fist is out of breath. Jessica Jones is in her trademark leather jacket because anything else would just be wrong.”
