The long wait is almost over for “Altered Carbon” season 2. Its exact release date is confirmed for February while the first teaser showing Takeshi Kovacs in his new sleeve, portrayed by Anthony Mackie, has been revealed as well.
‘Altered Carbon’ season 2 cast: What’s next for Takeshi Kovacs in his new sleeve?
“Altered Carbon” season 2’s one-minute teaser shows the new face of Kovacs in some action, but it does not really give enough information about his next adventures. Luckily, descriptions of the main characters, returning and new, have also been released, suggesting what to expect is going to happen next for Kovacs.
The blurb for Kovacs appears to be quite secretive, though. It can be recalled that he worked as a gun for hire in the present timeline, which is most likely going to be his same occupation in “Altered Carbon” season 2. But the nature of his next contract is still unknown. What the character descriptions and the teaser made clear, though, is that Kovacs’ actions will still be strongly tied to his desires of being reunited with Quellcrist Falconer (Renee Elise Goldsberry).
Fans also saw brief scenes with Quellcrist in the “Altered Carbon” season 2 teaser. That and the fact that Goldsberry is listed as part of the main cast confirms that she will continue to appear in Kovacs’ visions or memories. Whether or not Kovacs will finally find Quellcrist in a new sleeve is still a mystery, though.
One of the very few actors reprising their roles in “Altered Carbon” season 2 is Chris Conner, who plays as Poe. Season 1 established that Kovacs rarely trusts anyone, but he sees Poe as a reliable ally, which is interesting considering that Poe is an artificial intelligence-powered being and not exactly human.
‘Altered Carbon’ season 2 release date: When and where to watch the new episodes
One of the main elements of the series’ plot is that humans have practically found a way to evade death. Their consciousness is being stored in a cortical stack, so when their physical bodies die, they can still live on by attacking the device to a new body called sleeve. This explains why Joel Kinnaman is not coming back as Kovacs in “Altered Carbon” season 2 and why the main protagonist strongly believes Quellcrist is still out there.
“Altered Carbon” season 2 will be released on Feb. 27 on Netflix. Fans should note, though, that this is a shorter season with only eight episodes instead of 10.
