Fans know very little about “Altered Carbon” season 2. Some of the revealed information includes the new cast to be introduced along with a couple of familiar faces, including Quellcrist Falconer (Renee Elise Goldsberry).
Earlier this year, Netflix released a cast announcement trailer for “Altered Carbon” season 2 that confirmed Goldberry is going to reprise the role of fierce Envoys leaders and Takeshi Kovacs’s one true love. Kovacs is one of the characters that will have a new face or “sleeve” in the second season. Joel Kinnaman will not be returning. Instead, the main protagonist will be portrayed by Marvel Cinematic Universe actor Anthony Mackie.
In the first season’s present timeline, Quellcrist has already died physically, but her consciousness has been preserved in a cortical stack. Whether she was made active again in a new sleeve was unknown. However, the return of Goldberry in “Altered Carbon” season 2 seems to suggest that Kovacs might not yet be physically reunited with her. Since Goldberry is the face of Quellcrist in Kovacs’ memories, it is very possible that this is how she will be featured in the second season unless, of course, Netflix is deliberately keeping the new sleeve a secret.
Many details were already revealed about Kovacs in the first season. However, there is so much more to be learned about his real past. This is also why Quellcrist’s return in “Altered Carbon” season 2 is also significant because it means the viewers will keep on revisiting Kovacs’ memories. And that could lead to the truth he has been looking for so long.
Reports have it that “Altered Carbon” season 2 will complete filming this month. However, the setting and theme of the series will obviously require another long period for the post-production phase. Many fans were hoping to see it premiere this year, but considering how long it took between filming and releasing season 1, there is a big chance that season 2 will premiere in early 2020.
