Jonathan’s research interests are around urban technology and infrastructure as a focus for interrogating the politics of urban socio-technical change. He has worked on a number of projects in this area financed by the French National Research Agency (ANR), French government ministries and agencies and the European Commission. He coordinated recent projects on transformations in urban energy systems taking an international comparative approach to understanding changing local capacities, actions and governance of energy. The results are published in recent special issues of Urban Studies and Energy Policy. He is currently working on a book project on infrastructure, materiality and urban politics.
